The Solar Roofpod has also moved to Marshak Terrace at the City College of New York! For those unfamiliar, Marshak Terrace is a rooftop terrace located beautifully in the heart of the campus. The terrace simulates the rooftop application of the pod. So far, the steel structural system has been laid out. Students have assembled shim plates, and laid adjustable jacks, which support the steel beams . These beams comprise the ‘dunnage system’ that supports the decking, garden, and pod. Students, fitted in hard hats and steel toe boots, have certainly been building muscle. The steel cage of the pod, which will help lift the pod for its transportation to DC, has been welded, and is a framing system to support the building blocks of the pod.
