The RoofPod not only provides additional occupancy for the host building it is on, but also generates clean energy straight from the sun via the Solar Trellis.
The Solar Trellis, the primary energy source, is tilted to optimize solar exposure for its photovoltaic array and solar thermal collectors, while still withstanding significant wind loads as well as keeping unwanted solar heat gain from the RoofPod itself. To ensure optimal performance, the photovoltaic design uses micro-inverters in each individual panel, rather than regular inverters. This prevents shadows that might fall on only a portion of the array from decreasing the total output.
