The Dunnage Garden uses the sun, and protects its host buildings from absorbing its radiation, mitigating the heat island effect.
The RoofPod is supported by a steel beam Dunnage Garden that distributes loads evenly to the host structure beneath making it possible to be mounted onto existing roofs. The steel dunnage system also supports planter bins, creating a garden around the Roofpod, irrigated with stormwater and graywater and providing urban biomass and wildlife habitat that also keeps unwanted solar heat gain from the host building.
