Our first meeting allowed us to inform our students about the importance of sustainability through solar power. Some students came because they wanted to learn about such innovative technology, and others were attracted by the idea of constructing a home. Regardless, we all came out of the meeting in agreement- The Solar Decathlon competition is an innovative way to expand the horizons of our education. Through the meeting, we were able to channel the students’ talents, skills, and interests into an organized taskforce. Though the meeting was a preliminary one, it allowed us to see the beginnings of a committed team with one goal- To resolve the living conditions we all had seen for years in the city we lived in.
